Was MAHA Too Good to Last in the Trump Administration?

Donald Trump’s presidential administration has been a big disappointment in several major areas, including the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) prospect of reducing government spending and the America First prospect of the United States government pursuing a foreign policy much less interventionist than before. On both counts, the Turmp administration has led the government in the opposite direction than what was promoted in Trump’s presidential campaign. Spending and the national debt have grown. At the same time, the Trump administration has continued the Biden administration’s Ukraine, Israel, and other wars, while stirring up new wars in Venezuela, Iran, and beyond.

Grand Jury Refuses to Support Trump Administration’s Absurd Effort to Indict Congress Members

Grand juries in America, operating under rules heavily titled toward prosecutors, tend to acquiesce to just about all requests for indictments. Thus, it is quipped on occasion that a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich. Grand juries have largely failed to live up to their promise as a check on the exercise of government power.

Poll Finds the Majority of Americans Are Not Buying the Trump Administration’s Excuse for Military Action Against Venezuela

A CBS poll conducted November 19-21 has found that 70 percent of polled Americans oppose the United States government taking military action in Venezuela. This result is in line with polling earlier in November by Reuters/Ipsos that found that only 21 percent of polled Americans support the US government using military force for the specific objective of removing from office Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro.

Americans Say ‘No’ to US Military Aggression Against Venezuela

Since September, the presidential administration of Donald Trump has been directing the United States military to blow up boats and kill their occupants in the Caribbean and Pacific, claiming to be thus countering Venezuela government supported “narco-terrorism.” At the same time, it has been building up a large US military force off the Venezuela shore. And the Trump administration has made clear that these actions go hand in hand with seeking to achieve its goal of removing Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro from office.

Is The Trump Administration Putting Party over Principle in Government Shutdown Cuts?

Some critics of government overreach have regularly welcomed United States government shutdowns, arguing that they provide relief — if only temporarily — from spending and bossing around by government that threatens both freedom and prosperity. For them, the announcement from the Donald Trump administration that the government shutdown that started this week could lead to the cancelation of billions of dollars in spending on “clean energy” authorized during the preceding presidential administration could seem a welcome relief.

Trump Administration Continues Effort to Throw in Prison a Doctor Who Thwarted the Coronavirus Crackdown

In January of 2023, the United States government’s coronavirus crackdown set its sights on the medical practice of Dr. Michael Kirk Moore, Jr., with the US Department of Justice charging him and three other individuals with crimes stemming from the allegation that the charged individuals helped people who chose to not receive coronavirus “vaccine” shots for themselves or their children obtain cards indicating shots were received.

The Trump Administration: Haphazard, Incompetent, and Dangerous

“A range of factions with mutually exclusive policy goals entered the Trump White House hoping the president would prioritize their particular political project.” So begins an interesting article by Christian Britschgi last week at Reason.

It sounds like a setup for failure. And Britschgi presents a case that that is what is unfolding for these factions whether they advocated removing government barriers to operation of the free market or imposing trade barriers, ending wars or starting more wars.

Maybe the Reason the Trump Administration Wants to Deport Mahmoud Khalil is because There Is No Good Reason to Deport Him

The Donald Trump administration is offering no good reason to deport Mahmoud Khalil, who was involved in protests at Columbia University in New York City related to the Israel government and to United States government support for that government. He is not charged with a crime of violence or fraud. He is just singled out for advancing communication that challenged US foreign policy — exercising rights listed in the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

Walter Block: Vaping Products Bans are Fascist Paternalistic Idiocy

Loyola University Economics Professor Walter Block did not hold back in responding to the Trump administration’s plan to ban flavored e-cigarettes, as well as efforts by local and state governments to impose various types of vaping-related bans. Interviewed Wednesday at RT by host Rick Sanchez, Block derided banning vaping products as “fascist,” as well as “idiocy,” “moronical behavior,” and “utter nonsense.” Like other prohibitions of adults engaging in nonviolent activities, Block categorizes prohibitions on vaping as improper paternalist actions by government.
