Rejecting Corporatism

In his column last week, Ron Paul discussed the threat in America from corporatism, “where power remains nominally in private hands but the government gains significant control.” Movement toward corporatism, Paul’s editorial asserted, is evidenced by the United States government during the administration of President Donald Trump proceeding to amass ownership interests in a growing list of companies. Paul judged this policy pursued by Trump as “dangerous to liberty and prosperity.”

Disliking Israel, a Popular Opinion across the World

The Israel government has done a lot to earn dislike through bringing death and destruction on a vast scale. People are seeing Israel’s attacks in the last few years on Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and beyond as using destructive force that is not just defensive and focused on military targets. General annihilation is seen as a clear objective.

The People Versus the Vaccine Pushers

A few years have passed since the coronavirus scare culminated in government pushing experimental “vaccine” shots on everyone. It was asserted to be the only path to safety after the shutting down of much of the routine individual, social, and medical responses that had been used to deal with such health threats in the past and after the refusal to admit that coronavirus was not a major threat for most people.

Poll Finds the Majority of Americans Are Not Buying the Trump Administration’s Excuse for Military Action Against Venezuela

A CBS poll conducted November 19-21 has found that 70 percent of polled Americans oppose the United States government taking military action in Venezuela. This result is in line with polling earlier in November by Reuters/Ipsos that found that only 21 percent of polled Americans support the US government using military force for the specific objective of removing from office Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro.

Americans Say ‘No’ to US Military Aggression Against Venezuela

Since September, the presidential administration of Donald Trump has been directing the United States military to blow up boats and kill their occupants in the Caribbean and Pacific, claiming to be thus countering Venezuela government supported “narco-terrorism.” At the same time, it has been building up a large US military force off the Venezuela shore. And the Trump administration has made clear that these actions go hand in hand with seeking to achieve its goal of removing Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro from office.

Can Marijuana Legalization Help Keep Republican Majorities in Congress?

Eight years ago this month I commented that “I would not be surprised to see the US government legalize marijuana within the next five years.” That conclusion came upon my consideration of the then 64 percent nationwide support for legalization among Americans who had been recently polled by Gallup, plus — for the first time — majority support among Republicans.

Voters Turn against Trump on Price Increases and Financial Conditions

In the November of 2024 presidential election, CNN exit polling indicated that Donald Trump won the support of 76 percent of voters who answered that in the past year inflation had caused their families “severe hardship.” Now, less than five months later, voters are viewing the Trump administration as failing to address this issue sufficiently. A March 27-28 CBS poll found that 64 percent of polled individuals believed the Trump administration was “not enough” focused on lowering prices.

Provoking Nuclear War Over Something Americans Do Not See as a Major Threat

New polling conducted this month by the Pew Research Center indicates that only 30 percent of Americans believe that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a “major threat to U.S. interests.” That perception was at its highest of 50 percent of Americans shortly after the invasion. It has in successive polling consistently come in much lower, until reaching this new low.

Good News: Americans Distrust Mass Media

The American people are grasping the bias of mass media. When Gallup first asked Americans in 1972 “how much trust and confidence do you have in the mass media,” 68 percent of polled individuals answered either a “great deal” or a “fair amount.” Over the ensuing decades this positive response has plummeted, garnering just 31 percent in the most recent polling conducted in September.

Americans Turn Against Childhood Vaccines. Will Politicians End the Mandates?

A Gallup poll conducted in July found for the first time that less than a majority of surveyed Americans think that it is “extremely important” that parents have their children vaccinated. Only 40 percent of polled individuals agreed with this assessment compared to the 64 percent high point of agreement expressed when the question was first asked in 2001.
