The US House of Representatives’ Ridiculous 25th Amendment Resolution

When you do not have a good case supporting taking an action, one tried-and-true strategy of persuasion is to pile up a mountain of trivial and ridiculous assertions and point to it as proof that you are right. If someone diligently digs through the mountain, he will find that there is nothing of substance there. But, many people will just see a mountain of accusations and figure there must be truth behind the assertion.

That deceitful persuasion strategy appears to be at play in the resolution (H.Res. 21) the United States House of Representatives voted to approve Tuesday evening. Through the resolution, the House calls on Vice President Mike Pence to use immediately executive branch procedure described in the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution to make Pence the acting president, removing President Donald Trump from presidential powers.

President Trump Can Win Reelection Even If Unsuccessful in Election Recounts and Court Challenges

President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is pursuing recounts and court challenges in an effort to establish that Trump won the popular vote in several states that media organizations have said were won by Democratic Party presidential nominee Joe Biden. Even if the campaign’s efforts are unsuccessful, state legislators in some or all of these states, should they conclude the election in their states was won by Trump, could exercise their power under the United States Constitution to award Trump’s electors in those states entrance to the Electoral College that will vote in December on who becomes president and vice president.

Thus, there is an avenue for Trump to win the presidential election even if his recount and court efforts are not successful.

Newly Increased Coronavirus Crackdowns in Europe, a Preview of What Joe Biden Wants for All of America

Across Europe, supposedly in reaction to rises in the numbers of coronavirus cases, many national governments are imposing increased crackdowns that severely restrict the exercise of liberty. These coronavirus cases are in large part derived from testing that produces many false positives and that is often conducted on relatively young and healthy people who have very little risk of dying or even becoming seriously sick from a coronavirus infection.

Of course, the European politicians exerting their newly increased power say “the science” supports their tyrannical actions. And they will tend to give platforms to doctors and other scientists who back up those claims while ignoring or deriding the many doctors and other scientists who disagree.

If Joe Biden were president of the United States now, we can expect he would be following the course of these European power grabbers. The only likely reasons for restraint, aside from the potential of overwhelming popular revolt, would be if Biden had already implemented and maintained a countrywide crackdown of such high degree that he thought he could not feasibly increase it further or if congressional opposition or court orders managed to stop him.

Twitter Cracks Down on President Trump’s Coronavirus Advisor Scott Atlas for Opposing Masks

“Masks work? NO” began a Saturday Twitter post by Scott W. Atlas, a top coronavirus advisor for President Donald Trump. In the remainder of the tweet, Atlas proceeded to briefly relate support for this conclusion and for the proposition that masks being promoted as a means to limit the spread of coronavirus infections cause “many harms.”

Because Atlas dared to challenge the “wear your mask” mantra supported by phantom science, Twitter removed Atlas’ tweet.

President Trump Said on October 5, Do Not ‘Be Afraid of Covid’ or ‘Let It Dominate Your Life.’ Many Republicans Already Thought Along Those Lines.

On October 5, President Donald Trump commented at Twitter that he would be leaving later that day from Walter Reed Medical Center where he had received medical treatment related to his having been infected with coronavirus. In the tweet, Trump also stated: “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.”

In making this statement, Trump drew out many reactions of disdain and mocking from people in American media and politics. But, a newly release Pew Research Center poll indicates that many Republican and Republican leaning individuals probably nodded their heads in agreement with Trump while wondering why it took so long for the president to come around to saying what they had long understood.

‘Regime Change’ in Belarus Looks Like an Objective of Both the Trump Administration and the Biden Campaign

It seems that whoever wins the presidency, United States foreign policy will keep chugging away at intervening across the world, including via “regime change” efforts. Over the last couple decades, targets for US-government-supported overthrow have included Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Belarus also appears to be in the US government’s crosshairs. If its government holds back through January the effort seeking to topple it, Belarus looks sure to remain a US target for regime change during either a second term of President Donald Trump or a first term of President Joe Biden.

On Monday, as revolutionaries in Belarus capital Minsk attempted to oust the Belarus government, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Democratic Party presidential nominee Joe Biden issued interchangeable statements regarding Belarus and US policy toward it. Both Pompeo’s statement and Biden’s statement condemned the government of Belarus, called fraudulent the country’s recent national election in which President Aleksander Lukashenko won reelection by a wide margin, and made demands upon the Belarus government.
