National Public Radio (NPR) show All Things Considered aired a report Monday concerning how NPR is doing after the elimination of United Sates government funding. The overall assessment came in roughly as “Things are going alright.”

Keeping DHS Unfunded
In January, I wrote about Democrats in the United States Senate proposing a group of changes in US immigration enforcement. Listing some of the suggested changes, I summed them up as largely the adopting of restraints at the US government level “that have generally helped ensure at the state and local level that police violate people’s rights less frequently and can be more likely held to account in instances when they do.”
Last week, I wrote about the United States House of Representatives approving funding for the Department of Education for fiscal year 2026 at about the same level as each of the previous two years. This action, I suggested, was at odds with President Donald Trump, who is from the same party as the House and Senate majorities, having promoted during his 2024 presidential campaign and since his desire to drastically reduce and even eliminate this Cabinet department.
President Donald Trump is not a small government guy. But, he has declared during his 2024 presidential campaign and since his intention to drastically reduce or even eliminate a Cabinet department — the Department of Education.
The first Donald Trump administration ushered in an American coronavirus crackdown that included among its putrid components “warp speed” production and distribution of experimental coronavirus “vaccine” shots, Those shots, though repeatedly touted by people in government and media as “safe and effective,” turned out to be both dangerous and ineffective. Now, Trump’s second administration appears to be taking another go-around with the dastardly project, with experimental mRNA shots again playing a major role. This time the excuse is bird flu.
On November 9, a few days after Donald Trump won election to return to the White House, I wrote an article titled “Defunding NPR.” In the article, I presented reasons why “a spending cut that jumps out as among the most obvious for [Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk] and the incoming Donald Trump administration to pursue is eliminating all US government support for National Public Radio (NPR) and its affiliated programing and radio stations.” Here is an update.
The United States government does not need to give a dime to any college. But, if it does continue its funding of colleges, the First Amendment of the US Constitution bars that funding from being denied to a college because the college is determined to have insufficiently prevented speech the US government opposes, such as speech the US government deems to be critical of the Israel government.
