Big Victory for Gun and Drug Rights

On Thursday, the justices of the United States Supreme Court unanimously concluded in deciding the case of United States v. Hemani that the US government violates the Second Amendment of the Constitution in enforcing a prohibition on people owning or possessing guns merely because those individuals also use marijuana. Further, the reasoning of the decision suggests that the court may similarly throw out such denials of respect for the right to own or possess guns in regard to people who use at least some of the other drugs subject to the US government’s drug prohibition.

Surveillance of Credit Card Purchases at Gun Shops

In his latest weekly editorial titled “Why You Should Use Cash to Buy Guns” legal scholar and Ron Paul institute Advisory Board member Andrew Napolitano discusses how credit card companies have newly put in place a means to track credit card users’ purchases at gun shops. For people who continue to use credit cards for purchases at gun shops, Napolitano warns that the results can include United States government agents reviewing their purchase histories and even showing up on their doorsteps asking to see their guns.

Walmart CEO Tells President Trump and Congress Leaders to Impose ‘Common Sense’ Gun Control

In a Tuesday memorandum to employees, Walmart Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doug McMillon declared that Walmart, the huge retailer that is among the 50 largest public companies in the world, would be ending some gun and ammunition sales and making other changes to gun policies in its stores. McMillon, in his memo, also says he would be writing that day to United States President Donald Trump and Congress leaders calling for action on several restrictions on the exercise of gun-related rights. McMillon calls these restrictions “common sense measures.”
