Tulsi Gabbard’s Warmongering is Nothing New

Some people are expressing surprise about the warmongering comments Tulsi Gabbard has been making in regard to the Israel war that has been ramping up over the last few weeks.

I thought she was for peace; how can she be saying this? That’s what some people are asking when discovering the recent comments of Gabbard who had worked hard to portray herself in the 2020 presidential election as the candidate for voters favoring peace.

House of Representatives OKs the US Going to War against Iran

The days of congressional declarations of war are long gone, not passed for any of the many United States wars since World War II. In recent decades, Congress has passed authorizations for use of military force (AUMFs) to hand over to the executive branch discretion to choose to go to war against a certain county or to achieve a certain objective. AUMFs provide Congress members distance from the ensuing wars so they can duck responsibility or claim credit after reviewing measured public opinion.

Did the AUMF system reach a new low this week with the House of Representatives approving a resolution apparently authorizing the executive branch to go to war against Iran?

And the early action by the Israel government indicates that what it seeks is, at minimum, decimation in Gaza.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) narrowly defeated Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) in a Wednesday secret ballot vote among Republican members of the House of Representatives regarding which man should become House speaker. Next up is a speaker vote by the full House membership.

One thing was never in question in the race between Scalise and Jordan. Either of them as the new speaker would be over the top in his support of the Israel government and of helping it in its new war arising out of the Saturday Hamas attack.
