Rep. Thomas Massie Targeted for Defeat

Phillip M. Baily reported Wednesday at the Louisville Courier Journal on a apparent effort by national Republican Party figures to defeat United States House of Representatives Member Thomas Massie (R-KY) in the 2020 Republican primary.

Why the effort to defeat Massie? Maybe it is because Massie has been a strong advocate for nonintervention overseas and respect for liberty in America since he won election to the House in 2012.

On Independence Day, Consider the Failure to Keep the States ‘Free and Independent’

The Declaration of Independence, celebrated each July Fourth, does not speak of creating a powerful new government. Instead, it challenges the excessive power exercised in various ways by the British government in the American colonies. Over the many decades since the document’s publication, the increased rejection of the recognition that the colonies and then the American states are free and independent is tied to the growing of the United States government’s power and the decreasing respect for liberty in America.

New Mexico Governor Wants Marijuana Legalized Next Year

Last week, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law marijuana legalization in his state, making Illinois the 11th state to legalize and the second to do so via legislation approved by a state legislature and signed by a governor instead of through a voters-approved ballot measure. New Mexico may soon follow in adopting legislature and governor-approved marijuana legalization.

Ron Paul on the War Promoters

Speaking this week with host Rick Sanchez at RT, Ron Paul, who founded the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity in 2013 after leaving the United States House of Representatives, discussed how special interests and executive branch officials work to push the US into wars, including against Iran. In doing so, Paul notes, they seek to overcome the inclination of the American people to oppose intervention overseas.

Ron Paul and Jimmy Dore Explore Their Common Ground on Big Issues

Jimmy Dore, in his interview last week with libertarian communicator Ron Paul at the Jimmy Dore Show, pointed out that, while Dore calls himself a progressive and Paul is considered a libertarian, the two men “agree on the big things, meaning free speech and noninterventionism — ending our foreign wars and regime change wars.” Continuing, Dore states, “we agree on liberty and we agree that someone like Edward Snowden is actually a hero.”

Lew Rockwell: President Trump Should Fire Pompeo, Haspel, and Bolton — the ‘Trio of Blood’

In a new interview at RT largely focused on United States sanctions on Iran and the threat of a US attack on Iran, Ludwig von Mises Institute Chairman Lew Rockwell urges President Donald Trump to “start being a man of peace.” Toward achieving this goal, Rockwell advises that Trump should immediately take the step of firing war advocates Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Gina Haspel, and National Security Advisor John Bolton, who Rockwell together terms the “trio of blood.”

The Libertarian Party Chairman is Denouncing Ron Paul Again

You may recall United States Libertarian Party Chairman Nicholas Sarwark, in a December of 2016 interview, denouncing prominent libertarian communicator Ron Paul’s support for states’ rights. In that interview, Sarwark said Paul, who ran three times for US president including once as the Libertarian Party nominee, “had policy prescriptions that were straight-up wrong and anti-libertarian.”

Sarwark is back this week with a fresh denunciation of Paul. Writing in a Twitter thread on Monday, Sarwark insinuates that Paul is a supporter of the governments of China and Venezuela. Following that strange comment, Sarwark suggests that Paul is not opposing “Russian interference in the internal affairs of our government” because, get this, the Russian government secretly backed Paul’s 2008 presidential campaign. Sarwark even tries to back up this Russia nonsense with a preposterous Medium article that you can read here. Go ahead and read the article, for the laughs at least.
