Ron Paul Questions Whether Donald Trump Will Withstand Pressure in Favor of Foreign Intervention

Prominent libertarian communicator and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul is questioning whether Donald Trump will be able to withstand the enormous pressure placed on US presidents to intervene overseas, including with military force. Alex Pfeiffer, drawing on a recent interview with Paul, quotes Paul at The Daily Caller as suggesting President Barack Obama was pushed by powerful interests into a more aggressive foreign policy and that Trump, as president, will encounter similar pressure.

Ron Paul: The Two-Party System is ‘Horrible’

While Ron Paul has run for president twice, as well as served in the United States House of Representatives, as a Republican, he is far from a lockstep follower of that party or even a devotee of the “two-party system.” Indeed, Paul is quoted in a Sunday Victoria Advocate article as calling the two-party system “horrible” and speaking favorably of people voting “their conscience instead of Republican or Democratic.”

Paul in 1988 ran as the Libertarian Party presidential nominee. In 2008, after competing in the Republican presidential primary, Paul held a press conference at which he promoted the fact that several third party candidates, three of whom joined him at the press conference, had announced their agreement with a list of principles Paul saw as important for America. These principles related to actions including ending US military intervention, protecting privacy, limiting presidential power, stopping the growth of the national debt, and auditing the Federal Reserve.

Ron Paul to Trump: Don’t Listen to Neocons!

Ron Paul, known for his promotion of the United States following a noninterventionist foreign policy, presented Thursday his take on the prospects of Donald Trump’s foreign policy as president. Paul set out his analysis in an extensive interview with host Peter Lavelle at RT.

Paul started off the interview saying that he is keeping his “fingers crossed” regarding Trump’s potential foreign policy actions. Paul says he views favorably Trump’s comments in the presidential election about “being less confrontational with Russia” and criticizing some of the US wars in the Middle East. Paul, though, notes that Trump has presented “vague” foreign policy positions overall. Paul also comments that a good indication of how Trump will act on foreign policy issues will be provided by looking at who Trump appoints to positions in the executive branch and from whom Trump receives advice.

Ron Paul’s Election Day Analysis

Will Paul Ryan Be Booted from the House Speakership after the Election?

On October, 29, 2015, just over one year ago, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) became speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) had announced about a month earlier his resignation from the House after House members had become increasingly vocal in their disapproval of Boehner’s leadership and momentum had built significantly towards Boehner’s ouster from the speaker position.

May Ryan soon face a rebellion much like the one his predecessor faced? This possibility is suggested in Matt Fuller’s Friday Huffington Post article that draws much from an interview with Thomas Massie, a Republican House member from Kentucky who is also an advisory board member of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Bill Weld is Hillary Clinton’s Libertarian Party Surrogate

It is common in presidential campaigns for surrogates to speak at events or take part in media interviews where they vouch for a presidential candidate. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has many such surrogates, including her former presidential primary opponent Bernie Sanders, her husband and former United States President Bill Clinton, and First Lady Michelle Obama. Hillary Clinton’s campaign, as is typical of presidential campaigns, also uses Clinton’s vice presidential running mate Tim Kaine as a surrogate. What is unusual is that Bill Weld, the vice presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party, has also joined the ranks of Clinton surrogates.

A Pardon for Hillary Clinton

Things are looking dicey again for Hillary Clinton, with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James B. Comey having informed members of the United States Congress on Friday that the FBI is reopening its investigation of the former Secretary of State for mishandling classified information. This decision, Comey explained via a letter, is due to the discovery of new emails “that appear to be pertinent to the investigation.” Yet, no matter what the FBI may uncover, Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst and former New Jersey state Judge Andrew Napolitano said in a Fox Business interview with host Stuart Varney on Monday that Clinton may be able to avoid prosecution.
